Gandhi's Life ]
Philatelic material related to Mahatma Gandhi is presented
in this online exhibit. The Web Edition of this topical exhibit can be viewed in four dimensions:
(1) by the chronology of materials issued
(2) by
geographic location of issuing countries
(3) by type of
philatelic material
(4)
in reference to Gandhi and his life.
Such a multi-dimensional aspect to
exhibiting stamps combines the traditional approach to classic exhibits and the
current approach topical exhibits. This experiment is made possible by the
unique features available to hyperlinked electronic documents- that one does not
have with 2-dimensional frames. This online exhibit is not just a catalog of all Gandhi related material that
has been issued. All items shown in this
exhibit are in my personal collection.
Besides philatelic details, these WebPages are also scattered with
geographic and historic trivia on issuing entities and a
look at the historic and contemporary socio-political climates in issuing nations from one
perspective- values perceived as Gandhian: non-violence, human-rights, self-reliance,
political self-determination and religious tolerance.
This site is a work in progress..... please
keep checking for updates.
I appreciate hearing your input and suggestions, including details on related
material not in my collection. This will help me update my want list and
expand on this exhibit.
