On December 5 1968, Cameroon was the third of six west African nations that issued a French omnibus memorial set in the 1968-69 period to commemorate Gandhi, King, Luthuli and the Kennedys. The others who participated in this omnibus issue are Chad, Gabon, Mauritania (only Gandhi and King stamps), Niger and Upper Volta (only Gandhi and Luthuli stamps). Cameroon was the only nation in this group to issue to issue two Gandhi stamps and two King stamps, along with one each for the Kennedys, as part of the set.
