Liberia was one of seven African nations that issued Gandhi stamps in 1998. The others included Gambia, Ghana and Sierra Leone in West Africa; Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia in East Africa. The set included two stamps, a lower value of 50c (which was printed in a souvenir sheet as a block of four) and a higher $2 value in a smaller souvenir sheet. The design follows the same theme as the 1998 Gandhi issues from Dominica, St. Vincent, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. |
