Ghana was one of seven African nations that issued Gandhi stamps in 1998.  The others included Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone in West Africa and Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia in East Africa.  The biographical issue included five Gandhi stamps from various stages in his life: at age 17 (1887), age 60 (March 12 to April 6, on the Dandi Salt March) and age 61 (1931).  The design follows the same theme as the 1998 Gandhi issues from Gambia and Guyana.
